Grace Park (born March 14, 1974) is an American-Canadian actress of Korean descent. She is best known as Sharon Valerii (and the various iterations of Number Eight, a humanoid Cylon) on Battlestar Galactica, as well as Shannon Ng in the Canadian television series teen soap Edgemont.

When she was 22 months old, her family moved to Canada. In 1992, Grace graduated from Magee Secondary and went on to obtain a degree in psychology from the University of Victoria.

When Grace graduated from college, she thought about getting into acting only for a year. She started out in modeling, and her feature film debut came in 2000 with an appearance as a dancer in Romeo Must Die. The action movie starred Jet Li and the late Aaliyah. That same year, Grace landed the role of Shannon Ng on the Canadian teen drama series, Edgemont.

While working on Edgemont, Grace also picked up guest appearances on a few short-lived television shows. In 2000 and 2001, she accepted parts on The Immortal, The Outer Limits and Dark Angel. Grace met Korean real estate developer Phil Kim that same year and began a relationship with him. In 2002, she returned to film and played the part of Charmaigne in L.A. Law: The Movie.

After an appearance on Stargate SG-1 (2002), Grace took a few guest acting spots on the sci-fi series Jake 2.0 (2003). It was also in 2003 that she landed the part of pilot Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii on the television miniseries Battlestar Galactica, a remake of the 1978 series and film of the same name.

In 2004, the project was nominated for three Emmy Awards and it won a Saturn Award for "Best Television Presentation."

After the success of the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, Grace Park returned to making guest appearances on television shows. In 2004, she was featured on Andromeda and The Dead Zone. Later that year, Battlestar Galactica became a full television series and Grace Park reprised her role as Boomer. She also married Phil Kim in 2004.

In 2005, Battlestar Galactica was nominated for two Emmy Awards and won a Hugo Award for "Best Dramatic Presentation -- Short Form." While working on the acclaimed series, Grace continued appearing on Edgemont until its conclusion in 2005.

In March 2005, Grace Park appeared in Maxim magazine. She currently resides in Vancouver with her husband.

A Canadian-American actress of Korean descent, Grace Park was born on March 14th 1974 in Los Angeles. She is most widely known for portraying the multiple incarnations of Sharon Valerii/Athena Agathon/Cylon #8 in the popular sci-fi TV show Battlestar Galactica (2003-). Her family moved to Canada when she was an infant. She graduated from Magee Secondary School, and studied psychology and Spanish. She speaks Korean, as well as some French (I’d certainly like to hear that) and a bit of Cantonese. She lives in Vancouver with her husband, real estate developer Phil Kim, whom she married in 2004.

Grace Park’s acting career started with a small part in the action flick Romeo Must Die (2000), starring Jet Li and the late Aaliyah. Shortly after, she was cast in a more substantial role as Shannon Ng in the popular Canadian (CBC) teenage soap series Edgemont, which aired from 2001 to 2005. The show (a tremendous success in a few countries, like France) featured Kristin Kreuk, who went on to land the much bigger part of Superman’s first love interest, Lana Lang, in Smallville.

In 2001, she appeared in The Immortal, hardly the most glorious piece of TV fiction. Featuring Lorenzo Lamas, this unspeakably bad rip-off of the Highlander franchise features the Korean-Canadian actress as the recurring character Mikiko. Predictably, the series was a flop. She then made a few shorts stints on the sets of Dark Angel, Stargate SG-1, The Outer Limits,  and the telefilm L.A. Law: The Movie (2002)With the Sci Fi Chanel’s Battlestar Galactica, based upon the 1978 movie and subsequent television series of the same title, her career was pushed up to a whole new level with her interpretation of the multi-faceted character of  Sharon “Boomer” Valerii. One of the best-written and most compelling shows of the past few years, Battlestar Galactica narrates the space exodus of humankind’s few survivors after their planets-colonies were nuked out of existence by the Cylons, a line of übermensch-ey robots, and the quest of both parties for a mythical Earth. Grace Park’s character(s) stands somewhere between the few surviving humans and their monotheistic, cyborg creatures.

As a dysfunctional Cylon

The actress was not only noted for her Thespian skills. So was her physique (her spread was beautifully shot by the expert camera of Antoine Verglas for Maxim). She was named #93 in Maxim Online’s 2006 hot list.

This year, Grace Park stars as Lila Lee, in Michael Kang’s second feature, West 32nd, a crime drama dealing with New York’s Korean underworld.

She also appeared as Lt. Sandra Telfair in the RTS (real-time strategy) videogame, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (published by Electronic Arts), along with her Battlestar Galactica co-star, Tricia Helfer.

From one sci-fi world to the other

She will host the 2007 AZN Asian Excellence Awards with Daniel Dae-Kim. The show will air on AZN Television on May 28 at 8:00 PM (Eastern time).
